Q1. What's the difference between Diploma and Certificate Programs?
A. The only Programs eligible for 6 month Certificates are Music Production (some conditions apply) and Music Business. The AMP Diploma Program (Advanced Music Production) combines 6 months of Sound Recording with 6 months of Music Production. The BUMP Diploma Program (Beats & Urban Music Production) combines 6 months of Sound Recording with 6 months of Hip Hop and Urban Music Production. The MBA Diploma Program (Advanced Music Business) combines 6 months of Music Business with 6 months of Artist Development.
Q2. How long is the course? A. Music Production programs (AMP and BUMP) are 1 year (960 hours) and Music Business lasts 6 months (480 hours)
Q3. Is it considered full time study? A. Yes, delivered 5 days a week M-F.
Q4. Can I work and go to school too? A. Yes, there are 3 sessions for study, Morning 9-1, Afternoon 1-5 and Evening 5-9.
Q5. How much does it cost? A. Tuition for Music Business is $12,250 for Canadian applicants - International students pay $14,800. Tuition for the Advanced Music Production or Beats & Urban Music Production Diplomas is $28,300 for Canadian applicants, and $34,300 for International students. In addition, there is a fee for texts and materials, depending on your Program of choice.
Q6. Is the Program eligible for student loans? A. Yes. Nimbus is accredited in very good standing with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of B.C. (PCTIA). And Nimbus is designated with the Ministry of Advanced Education Student Services. Financing through Canada Student Loans or Student Aid B.C. may be available.
Q7. Will I really get studio time to practice what I'm learning? A. ABSOLUTELY. We insist on it. Our philosophy at Nimbus is learn by doing. Class time is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. M-F. After that, 24/7, its student studio time.
Q8. Can you guarantee me a job upon graduation? A. Of course not. But consider that many of the referrals to Nimbus are from industry contacts. People in the business know how we train students. Job placements are continually increasing because industry understands that Nimbus grads have professional attitudes and training. Job placements are currently around 70%.
Q9. When do Programs start? A. January, April, July and October
Q10. How old do I have to be? A. Age 19 or a High School graduate.
Q11. How do I reserve my seat? A. Come in for an interview; accepted Canadian applicants can reserve a seat with a $500 deposit. International students may reserve with a $600 deposit.
Q12. What are the prerequisites to enroll at Nimbus? A. Your high school diploma. For international students you may require proof of English proficiency. Other than that...Passion. Drive. Committment. Seriously, if you come with the right attitude, we will take care of the knowledge side. Nimbus doesn't teach you how to be in the music industry. At Nimbus, you ARE in the music industry. Show up.
